Description

Diprotodon (diprotodon) is a recently extinct genus of marsupial mammals; it is the largest marsupial that has ever existed.1 They were herbivores the size of a rhinoceros, in the largest species. They occupied the ecological niche of the pachyderms and ungulates in temperate zones. They lived in Australia and were relatives of modern koalas and wombats. Their habits were more similar to those of the latter.
